In a move to cut plastic waste, Morrisons has ditched loose fruit & veg plastic bags and replaced them with 100% recyclable with paper ones. Morrisons says it has listened to customers’ concerns about plastic pollution and is making changes to become more environmentally friendly.
What Does This Mean?
And the study found paper bags were only better than their plastic equivalents if used four or more times...Try using a paper bag four times and you'll know where the HOLE in that idea is.
Why Should We Care?
In addition, there are also thoughts that plastic pollution can damage human health by entering the food chain, with women particularly affected by plastic's toxic potential. Exposure is linked to cancers, birth defects, impaired immunity, endocrine disruption.
Instead of using a plastic or paper bag at for your fresh fruit and veg, you can take your own bags and avoid single-use packaging altogether. Besides, who needs a bag to separate their peppers from their potatoes?!
